A new study shows that newcomer social media platform Pinterest is driving more traffic than Google+ (duh), LinkedIn (meh), and YouTube (woah!) combined.
Marketed as an online pinboard where users share and organize things they love, Pinterest is quickly growing. The darling network of fashionistas and budding entrepreneurs now beats YouTube, Reddit, Google+, LinkedIn and MySpace for percentage of total referral traffic in January, according to a Shareaholic study.
Interestingly, the Shareaholic study points to the “S*ht ___ Say” meme (The fashionista one is our easy favorite) for the spike in referral traffic to YouTube.
A quick look on the photo-heavy Pinterest homepage today and we see style mavens raving about gold watches, bakers posting pics of homemade Twix bars, and other crafty types showing how you can use old crayons and a heart mold to make cool candles. We could get used to this!
